SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
RULES & LEGISLATION
School means Ishik University Prep and/or Bridge Foreign Language School.
Student(s) means a registered student of Ishik University Prep and/or Bridge Foreign Language School. “But this does not mean that Bridge Foreign Language School students are university students.”
- School provides students 600 hours of English Language Course in three terms.
- The course has 3 levels. These levels may vary according to level of student. The student studies 3 of the following levels. They are Starter, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate.
- Students are asked to sit a placement test and are put into level classrooms according to their results of the placement test.
- School provides books for courses.
- Students are supposed to come to the lessons ready. They are expected to bring necessary items for lessons such as books, notebooks, pens, pencils, eraser or sharpener etc. The lecturer has the right not to accept the ones who do not bring any of them to the class, or grade weekly participation as zero.
- Students are given Turkish language as a second foreign language.
2- School Schedule
There are 3 terms in the course for Bridge School Students.
- 1st term commences on October 04, 2015 and concludes on November 26, 2015
- 2nd term commences on November 29, 2015 and concludes on February 04, 2016
- 3rd term commences on February 07, 2016 and concludes on April 21, 2016
- These dates may vary depend on the starting date of course.
- For Prep School students, dates are arranged according to proposal that comes from the ministry of higher education.
3- Course Days and Attendance Policy
- The classes commence on Sundays and conclude on Thursdays. Fridays are considered as holidays.
- Students should be in school by 8:50 AM. Regular dismissal time is 14:30 PM.
- Because of the time limit of the program, students may be asked to come to lessons on some Saturdays or/and in some public holidays.
- Latecomers are not allowed to enter the classroom.

5- Refund Policies
In case of withdrawal;
- If the withdrawal takes place before the course begins, the fee is refunded in full.
- Student who withdraws after the first month of course is not eligible for a refund.
- If the withdrawal takes place in the first month, the fee is cut for a month. The rest is refunded.
- For any other cases, the course tuition fee is not refundable.
6- Certificate Policies
At the end of the program, school gives two certificates to the student who has accomplished the conditions.
Certificates and Conditions
- Success Certificate
- A student must get the average of 70 out of 100 to be qualified to take a SuccessCertificate.
- Attendance is taken into consideration in order to take SuccessCertificate.
- Attendance Certificate
- A student must attend at least 85% of class hoursin total to take Attendance Certificate. In other word, the total number of hours from absences, tardiness, and leaving classes early must not exceed more than 15%.
- Success is not taken into consideration in order to take Attendance Certificate.
7- Mobile Phone Policies
- Mobile using (making phone calls) is not allowed in the classroom during the lesson.
- When the students enter the class, they put the mobile silent mode or off.
8- Exam Policies and Grading
Students are expected to take exams at the times scheduled by the teacher and administration.
- Student must complete 3 levels.
- Throughout the course, students are asked to sit WeeklyQuizzes(each week on Sundays 1st lessons) and Level Final (after each level)
Participation (20%) + Weekly Quizzes (20%) + Monthly Achievements (%40) + Weekly Extracurricular Activity (20%) = Total (%100)
- Student must take at least 70(average) out of 100 in the examinations and participation in all levels to be successfully completed the course.
9- Discipline Policies
One of the most important aspects of education is discipline, which should eventually be internalized. Discipline is the training that develops self-control, orderliness, efficiency and character. Basic to all discipline is the principal of respect – respect for one’s self, for others and for everyone.
In order to form proper habits and attitudes, the following ruled for good conducts are expected to be obeyed by every student:
- Respect for all faculty members, peers and teachers regardless of ethnicity, religion or gender.
- Behave appropriately to his/her teachers, staff, friends and other people.
- Courtesy and consideration for all members of the school community.
- Smoking, drinking and drug possession is strongly prohibited.
- Possessing any kind of weapons when in school is strongly prohibited.
- In addition to what is mentioned above, anything that breaches the cultural norms and the Constitutional Law of the country is prohibited.
10- Use of School Facilities Policy
- Language School Students are allowed to use Computer rooms, Libraries and the other school facilities submitting their ID Cards.
- Students are not allowed to harm any property inside or outside the school. Getting involved with others in such destructive behavior is prohibited.
- If a student does harm to another student, person, school property and building, the full responsibility of the action and damage has to be taken by that particular student.
11- Classroom Rules
- All necessary materials and books should be brought to school according to the school timetable.
- Students must keep textbooks and notebooks with themselves when they leave school.
- Teachers may assign homework; it is the student’s responsibility to fulfill these assignments.
- Assignments mark may directly influence student’s annual score.
- Guests are not allowed to enter the lectures.
12- Announcement Policies
- Official announcements are made via notice boards, e-mails, short messages and telephone calls. In all cases students are considered to be informed.
- Students who disobey the regulations (also including: attendance and scores) of the school, will be punished with warning verbally for the first time, in writing for the second time, and finally his/her family will be apprised for the third time.
- In the case of a further recurrence of the same or similar manners, the students will be punished with expulsion from IUCEC – English Language School.
